In early 2016 the opening of Monument Hotel, a nineteenth century become a 5-star deluxe hotel with 84 rooms and suites located at number 75 Paseo de Gracia is planned.
With the collaboration of Oscar Tusquets in the initial project, the architects Carles Basso and Tote Moreno with the interior Mercè Borrell are the architects of the rehabilitation of the hotel, located in the Casa Batllo Enric a neo-Gothic mansion built between inspiration 1895 and 1896 by the pre-modernist architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas.
From the original building facade preserved, with its bright polychrome result of a combination of various materials such as brick brickwork, stone, pottery and wrought iron; the main staircase with carved marble arches, which have recovered the wainscot and original floral paint colors and wrought iron staircase and courtyard.
The future Monument Hotel, 8,000 square meters, will house 84 rooms and suites of between 24m2 and 85m2, equipped with the most exclusive services. All have access to a balcony overlooking the Paseo de Gracia, the quiet inner courtyard of the block of the Eixample or the street.
Inside the rooms will be played with modern and timeless aesthetic view to recovering the work, combined with the natural oak floor, it will give you a very special warmth and comfort.
The jewel of the hotel is the Suite Enric Batllo, the name that it has been named in honor of the original owner of the building. 85m2 and located on the top floor of the hotel, will host this noble residence, among other privileges, a spacious bedroom with separate dressing room connected to the bathroom with jacuzzi, living area with kitchen and dining room built. It will also have three balconies from which you envision imposing panoramic views of the elegant and emblematic Paseo de Gracia.
The overall decor of the hotel is planned in burnished in perfect balance with different decorative elements and props in shades noir lumière and the expected furniture to be designed as to meet the needs of every corner.
The team of architects has highlighted the challenge that has meant creating an open space for wheelchair lounge area, with a large lobby and restaurant at street level. To perform this task has been carried out a major structural reform, transforming the ancient walls of load on a beam in the form of investment with a skylight that allows the entry of natural light from the roof tree.
The restoration will be another of the distinctive elements. With seven Michelin stars and 40 years at the stoves, the award-winning Basque chef Martin Berasategui and his team, led by Paolo Casagrande, will be located in front of the different spaces that include gastronomic offer of the new Monument Hotel. It stresses the familiar Lasarte restaurant, which in 2010 earned the second star in the Michelin Guide, and today offers one of the best dining experiences in the city. Oria also house the restaurant, modern air space with a large lamp inside a pond with calm waters that offer delicious breakfasts and a lunch and dinner menu inspired by the countries bordering the Mediterranean and finally the Hall. 0 a cosmopolitan cocktail bar and contemporary feel called to become the meeting point for guests and locals.
Among other amenities, Monument Hotel also house an outdoor pool on the 6th floor and a wellness zone with two massage rooms, and a Room Fitness area equipped with Technogym machines, weights, pilates and two types of sauna.
The premodern heritage on its walls, its exclusive luxury services, the varied and unique cuisine under the direction of Martin Berasategui and privileged enclave in the center of Barcelona defined the letter of the future Monument Hotel, whose works are scheduled to completed later this year.
